IDEA AND CONCEPT
The series “Ropes” delves into interdependence, tension, and vulnerability in human relationships. Using monochromatic compositions, it portrays knots and threads as symbols of emotional bonds—friendship, love, conflict, and trust. Inspired by the Japanese art of shibari, the ropes evoke both sensuality and fragility. Each knot’s unique form reflects the diversity and complexity of these connections, while the artworks leave space for interpretation, inviting viewers to consider what lies beyond the visible boundaries.
Ropes can symbolize the limitations we impose on ourselves or those imposed by society. Knots represent moments when we encounter these constraints. For instance, a knot might metaphorically represent the complexity of decision-making or choosing between different paths.
Ropes intertwined in knots can symbolize physical or emotional confinement. However, each knot also represents an opportunity to untie the rope and break free. It reminds us of our capacity for change and choice.
The series includes 10 unique prints created by hand using the artist’s own technique. Four selected works are shown below.

It’s a story about limits. About that delicate moment when the tension within reaches its peak—thoughts, feelings, events stretched to the brink. And then—snap.

The ropes in these works seem to hold the entire world in balance until one of them gives way. It’s a metaphor for inner struggle: those moments when we’re ready to bear it all, but rupture symbolizes both our fragility and our strength. Because within that breaking point lies the potential for liberation.
